Joost

It looks like the web and tv finally about to start converging…

Joost (formerly the VeniceProject) is a streaming P2P platform for television. Brought to us by the makers of Kazaa and Skype, it apparently brings you TV quality content in an application that uses P2P protocols to fetch the content. It’s still in beta testing phase, but I think this is going to make a big wave on the world wide web. It’s Ad-funded and looks like it will be a streaming service only – i.e you won’t be able to share content like you can on YouTube.

All the reviews I’ve read from beta testers sound good, they all say that it works well, streaming is reliable and the quality is good. I wonder how this is going down with all the tv channels?! I’m sure I heard that the BBC had signed a deal with Azureus?! I may be wrong?!

Anyway, I look forward to trying it out…
